IS IT EVIL OR IS IT A WOUNDED SOUL?

love painting portraits; they fascinate me. I am drawn to the portrait's unpredictable power to evoke an emotional response. By adding the texture of paint, composition of layout and dramatic contrast of color, the content can be narrative, symbolic or visual. Creating this series of portrait paintings with this combination of visual tension was an emotional experience. As a female artist, I am trying to show the power of women to acquire what they want. A woman can use something as simple as expressive look to convey mystery, wonder, or desire. But where does this inherent power come from? It comes from our heartfelt experiences, the pain and sorrow and tears of sadness we shed. The color combination and contrast of light and dark can be interpreted as the many emotional stages of a woman's growth. Her softness may represent the vulnerability she feels on a daily basis. The compelling image of these paintings that draws the viewer's eye to the art itself and back to their own experiences, to complete the meaning of the piece for themselves. |
